Panna, Czinka
(1711-1772)
   Slovakia. Musician and composer. Coming from a musical family, she was encouraged to study music and later played the violin in her own band with her husband and brothers-in-law. Her repertoire included folk songs and her own compositions. Panna was honored both during her life and after her death as a great musician. Since 1970, musical festivals in her honor have been organized in the Gemer, the county of her birth. She has also appeared on an official postage stamp.
